Every year, students from FE colleges trhroughout the region come together for the annual Mark Webber Youth Challenge, an event founded by the ex-Formula 1 racing driver to promote teamwork, fitness and camaraderie amongst fellow students. The challenge was hosted at RAF Halton in Buckinghamshire this year and invoved a series of physical and mental challenges in which five colleges took part. Students from Buckinghamshire College Group's Aylesbury campus took part in the day long activities and at the end of the day were crowned winners of the gruelling event. Not only that, they walked away with five awards, three for best performance in the different challenges and one individual award plus the main trophy.
"We won the overall challenge and came top in some of the activities so it was a superb result," said college sport maker Taofeek Oyeyemi. "Despite studying different courses, the students worked hard as a group, enjoyed the challenge and were determined to win."
Other colleges involved in the event were Banbury and Bicester College, City of Oxford College, East Berkshire College and Reading College.
