Buckinghamshire College Group recently hosted their Annual Student Awards ceremony. As well as recognising the amazing work of our students, the event is the perfect opportunity for us to recognise all the wonderful employers we work with to give our students the best chance of success.

Among the 22 awards given out on the evening, two were dedicated to our employers. Firstly, our Apprentice Employer of the Year. Nominated by Steven Williamson was L & C Carpentry Ltd.

Steve said,

The Apprenticeship Team have worked closely with Ian and Vicky  for a number of years now and have witnessed their dedication to providing high-quality training and opportunities.  During their partnership with Buckinghamshire College Group, L & C Carpentry have trained 11 apprentices, with an impressive 90% continuing to work happily with the company and advancing in their roles.

Ian Leslie, the Company Director, promotes a supportive environment by assigning his most experienced carpenters to mentor roles, allowing them to pass on their extensive skills and knowledge. This approach ensures that apprentices receive the guidance they need to succeed.

Vicky Cannell, the Operations Director, actively supports apprentices by regularly monitoring their progress and offering assistance on a wide range of matters.

Overall, L & C Carpentry operates professionally, prioritises health and safety, and promotes fairness while investing in ongoing training and development. I believe L&C Carpentry deserve recognition for their commitment to their apprentices.

The award was collected on behalf of Ian and Vicky who couldn't be there on the evening.

Another award that was up for grabs was our Business Impact Award, sponsored by Buckinghamshire Business First. 76 Services was nominated by Curriculum Manager for Business and Computing, Sean Bastow and Work Experience Coordinator/Team Leader, Amanda Gilbert. The nomination read,

76 Services embodies the essence of what it means to be a catalyst for educational transformation. Their commitment to shaping our learners to prepare them for their roles in the future workforce is exemplary. Through their collaboration with the BCG, they have not only demonstrated a profound dedication to student success but have actively participated in the co-design of our T Level in Digital Design and Development curriculum, ensuring its relevance and alignment with industry standards.

Their pivotal role in supporting the development of our Digital Design and Development programme underscores their forward-thinking approach and their understanding of the evolving needs of the local and national digital landscape. By engaging with our employer board and extending opportunities such as hosting inset days for our teachers and providing invaluable work placements for our learners, 76 Services has not just provided experiences but has paved the way for our students to thrive in their chosen career paths.

The impact of 76 Services goes beyond mere contribution; it signifies a partnership rooted in a shared vision of preparing students to be not just work-ready but future-proofed professionals equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their respective industries. Their unwavering support has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our learners, and we look forward to continuing and building on our relationship over years to come.
