Access to Nursing
Level 3 Access to Higher Education (Health Professions)
The Access Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification for adults who aspire to go to university. It is an intense one year programme which will ensure the learner gains study skills and ICT skills to enable them to cope with a higher education environment. There are three diploma routes.
Social Sciences Dipolma For learners who want to go into Social Work, Social Care or study towards a Social Sciences degree.
Healthcare Diploma For learners who want to pursue a career in Nursing, Midwifery, Mental health and other health related professions.
Humanities Diploma This is for learners who are interested in a primary school teaching career or a Humanities Degree.
Each diploma has core units like study skills and ICT. In addition units in the following disciplines are covered: Human Biology, Psychology, Sociology, Law and English Politics.

Access to Humanities & Social Sciences
Level 3 Access to Higher Education in Psychology with Criminology (Humanities and Social Sciences)
This Access to Higher Education course will prepare you to study for a degree at university. This is a one-year, Level 3 course specifically designed to enable you to develop the knowledge and study skills to progress into Higher Education in careers such as Social Work, Law, Teaching, Criminology, Psychology and many more exciting career paths.
You may already have some qualifications at GCSE, NVQ, BTEC or A level but not enough to get to university. The Access course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to achieve your goal. You need to be very committed to study and focused on your career choice and we recommend that you do not work more than 16 hours per week in addition to your coursework based studies. You will need to be available 3-4 working days per week for lectures.
You will be expected to participate fully in all class activities and undertake a considerable amount of independent study. You will learn essay writing, referencing skills, how to debate, analyising and evaluate resource material.

This Access to Higher Education course will prepare you to study for a degree at university. Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Year 1
You will undertake client work in agency placements and are required to complete a minimum of 100 client hours. Saturday workshops and a residential weekend, on a range of counselling topics, supplement the learning throughout the 2 years. This course involves personal time and commitment from students to meet the many different demands which includes compilation of a portfolio, regular supervision of counselling work and 40 hours of personal therapy.
