This qualification is for those who have already acquired Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills or its equivalent and now want to continue their training.

What will I learn?
This course provides a transition from using counselling skills at an informal level to counselling practitioner training. You will learn about counselling theory, clinical supervision, and agency work as well as continue to develop your counselling skills. It will also prepare you to undertake workplace experience as a Trainee Counsellor at Level 4.

How will I be assessed?
Internal assessment is based on the completion of an evidence based portfolio. External assessment is based on completing a paper in the role of the observer.

Entry Requirements
Level 2 qualification in Counselling Skills. Learners must be aged 19 or over.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Upon completion you will be able to apply for Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level 4. The selection process is an interview and written assessment. This course does not qualify you to work as a professional counsellor, but gives you essential knowledge and skills to progress to the next step in counselling training.

Additional Information
At level 3 you will not be required to have a counselling placement however, building contacts with agencies and securing a support role would be very beneficial for your application to level 4.
