Why Volunteer with us?
Volunteering can be as much of a benefit to you as it will be to our current students. You could use the opportunity to give back to the local community, develop your skills, promote your business or industry, recruit new talent, or simply gain a huge sense of satisfaction! You could opt to mentor a student, come in to College to hold a session or give a talk on your role or about your sector, or even deliver a live project brief for students to work on.
Medicare, a company which distributes medical products, gave our students a project brief to work on involving redesigning packaging for one of their products. One of our student’s designs ended up being chosen for the final product which is now being distributed worldwide! Live briefs are so beneficial for both the student and the company, as the students get to work on something ‘real’ and the company will have their brief worked on free of charge. Medicare even went on to offer the student with the winning design employment within their company.
Work Experience/Apprenticeships
If coming in to deliver a session isn’t really your thing, then maybe you could offer a student work experience with your company? Work experience can be tailored to your needs, whether you’d like to offer the position short or long term, with days and hours to suit you.
We have over 1500 full time students, and it is our aim for each of them to have completed work experience by the end of their course. Buckinghamshire College Group prides itself on ensuring its students are ‘work ready’ when they leave College, and partaking in work experience can really support this.
You will be able to come in to College and interview students, ensuring you have the right person for the position.
Even if you work in an industry which may not seem relevant to the courses our students are studying, students will learn transferable skills which they can use in the future.
