The Certificate in Counselling Skills has been developed for people who want to incorporate counselling skills into their personal or professional communication.

What will I learn?
The course is very practical and a lot of learning comes from practice in trios and group discussion. The students will also be introduced to some of the theoretical principles of counselling. Completion of this course does not qualify students as counselling practitioners but this is a starting point for the professional training route. Students will also be introduced to evidence-based assessment and how to build a portfolio.

How will I be assessed?
Internal assessment is based on the completion of an evidence based portfolio made up of weekly reviews, tutor observed practice and peer feedback. External assessment is based on completing a paper on the role of observer

Entry Requirements
To have successfully completed Level 1 Award in Introduction in Counselling. Learners must be aged 19 or over.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Following successful application, this course allows progression onto the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. This course provides a base for personal and professional communication in counselling.
