You will undertake client work in agency placements and are required to complete a minimum of 100 client hours. Saturday workshops and a residential weekend, on a range of counselling topics, supplement the learning throughout the 2 years. This course involves personal time and commitment from students to meet the many different demands which includes compilation of a portfolio, regular supervision of counselling work and 40 hours of personal therapy.

What will I learn?
This professional Diploma will teach you how to work as a Counselling Practitioner within agency settings. This course is integrative humanistic in its teaching, combining study in person-centred theory, cognitive behavioural therapy and transactional analysis.

How will I be assessed?
Internal assessment is based on the completion of an evidence based portfolio. External assessment is based on the completion of an audio recording with a peer, plus an associated written paper under exam conditions.

Entry Requirements
This course is recommended for those aged 21 and over. You will need to have CPCAB Counselling Studies Level 3 (or equivalent). You will be required to take part in a selection process and references will be taken up.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Level 5 qualifications including a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Level 5 Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Upon completion of the course you will be able to become a Practising Counsellor in an agency setting.

Additional Information
There will be a compulsory residential weekend in Year 1 and Year 2. Plus 10 weekend workshops per year - dates to be confirmed.
