Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Business is a learner-centred, flexible, unit-based structure where theoretical knowledge is applied in project-based assessments. Focus is on holistic development of the practical, interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in employment and higher education.
This course is designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for a range of roles in organisations within the business sector including administration, finance/accounts, marketing, management and human resources. Team working is a major feature of this course and a 'can do' attitude that enjoys creativity and innovation.

What will I learn?
This is an excellent foundation providing a wide range of transferable skills such as:

An integral aspect of this course is industry specific work experience. Students attend one day per week to develop their understanding of an industry, business or service they are interested in.
Students are also provided with the opportunity to gain essential skills for studying at degree level, including: reading technical texts, effective writing, creative development and analytical skills.
Please note that when you apply for this course you will be applying for the first year, which is known as a 90 Credit Diploma. Upon completion of the two-year extended diploma you will have studied the equivalent of 3 A Levels and their associated UCAS value.
As part of your Study Programme you will also complete a business project. In addition, you will attend Tutorials each week. You will need to complete GCSE Maths or English if you do not have a Grade C/4. Alternatively, you will complete a project such as Digital skills if you have your Grade C/4 in English and maths. In addition, you will complete a 45 day industry work placement, plus additional work experience (Approx 72 hours)

How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment consisting of projects and assignments will form the overall assessment scheme for this programme. There will be some externally assessed units and you will have the opportunity, within the academic year, to re-sit for a higher grade if required. You will be asked to produce written reports and similar, take part in individual and group presentations and role plays and internal and external events as part of the assessment.

Entry Requirements
A minimum of 5 GCSE at Grade 4 (C) or above including English and Maths. Alternatively we will accept a full Level 2 qualification at Merit grade or above in business plus either English or maths at grade 4 or above.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Upon successful completion of this course you can apply to university to study a wide range of degrees, or a higher apprenticeship or go straight into employment. You're engagement in external work experience throughout the course will be a key factor in your successful progression. There will be opportunities within a number of industries including Marketing, Finance, Public Relations, Events Management, Advertising, Sales and Human Resources in both public and private sector organisations.

Additional Information
In order to complete your course you will be expected to either work in the library/Hub when you do not have lectures or spend approximately 10 hours per week completing assignments.
You will be required to go on compulsory trips which will enhance your learning. There is a fee attached to this of £80 for the year.
