This level 3 qualification will give you foundation knowledge in forensics and criminal investigation. This two year course will enable you to progress into Higher Education to study within the forensic and criminal investigation sector, prior to entering into employment.

What will I learn?
This programme will give you the underpinning knowledge in both forensics and criminal investigation. You will learn the basic principles of science and how they can be used within law enforcement investigations. You will also be introduced into the use of psychology and how that can aid law enforcement in criminal investigations.

How will I be assessed?
This diploma is assessed primarily through coursework and presentations graded on Pass, Merit or Distinction but there are also 4 modules that are assessed externally by examination.

To join this programme you will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (or equivalent) including Maths and/or English.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Students who successfully complete the course will be awarded a level 3 National Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation which will enable you to progress into Higher Education as BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Investigation, BSc (Hons) Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation, BSc (Hons) Psychology and Criminology, BSc(Hons) Criminology, BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigation. Successful completion of this course can lead to career in the Police Service, the Forensic Science Services, the Prison Services or Certified Psychology Practice.
