You will gain a Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care and a Level 2 Award in the Principles of Applied science.

What will I learn?
This course is a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills designed to prepare you to progress onto either T Level in health or T Level in Science. The course also prepares you to undertake various roles in both the health and social care or science sectors. You will learn about the roles and responsibilities of health care and science practitioners and how to communicate effectively in these environments. To develop your employability skills you will undertake a work placement. This provides you with hands-on experience in real-world settings, allowing you to apply the theoretical knowledge leaned in the classroom to practical situations.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous and will be based on assignments and practical work. Assignments are varied and include written reports, analysing scientific experiment results, creating leaflets and posters and delivering presentations. There is one written exam.

Entry Requirements
To join this programme you will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

Progression & Career Opportunities
The course will prepare you for further study at level 3 and equip you with the skills and knowledge required to work in the Health, Health and Social Care or Science sectors. The work experience you undertake is crucial in helping you to assess your own strengths, areas of interest and prepares you for your future career. Once you have completed the course you will be able to enter a number of industries. These include Nursing, Social Work and Social Care.

Additional Information
There will be a course contribution fee of £100. This goes towards costs of materials used in the classroom, a polo shirt to wear at placement, guest speakers and trips and visits. To undertake a work placement in a Health and Social Care setting you will also require a DBS check that costs approximately £50.
