The City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is an occupational qualification for those who work in Adult Care Settings. The qualification is applicable to a variety of roles, where workers have key responsibilities for delivery of care and support and/or a level of supervisory responsibility for others such as: Lead Adult Care Worker, Lead Personal Assistant, Key Worker, Domiciliary Care Worker, Senior Care Assistant or Support Worker.

What will I learn?
This qualification consists of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies with optional unit content which can be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners. When undertaking this qualification you will learn and develop theory and practical skills required of a Lead Adult Care worker.
The content of the mandatory units covers person-centred approaches, communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care, responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, and health, safety and well-being.
The optional units are designed to meet the requirements of a range of Adult Care services. Unit 328: 'Knowledge, skills and behaviour expected of a lead adult care worker' will be particularly useful for those learners completing this qualification who require confirmation of their competence for their current roles or for progression to high education.

How will I be assessed?
You will be allocated an Assessor who will visit you at your workplace. You will be supported to build a portfolio of evidence using a range of assessment methods, some of which will include: Written assignments, Direct observation of practice, Professional discussion, Questioning and Expert Witness testimonies

Entry Requirements
You must not already have a level 3 qualification in any subject You must also be employed in a Care setting and your role must involve supervisory responsibilities.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Following achievement of the level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, there may be opportunities for you to progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or the level 5 Diploma in Leading and Managing an Adult Care Service, depending on your work role. Career opportunities include; supervisory and management roles with Adult Care services.
