This is an industry led, one-year course, equivalent to four GCSEs, which will allow progression to the Level 3 course or employment. This one-year course is designed to introduce you to the fashion retail industry, and its many career paths. The course will give you a comprehensive view of the industry. This option is perfect for those who aren't sure which specific area of fashion retail or design they would like to go into, as it covers a diverse spectrum of subjects

What will I learn?
During this course you will cover both the creative and business side of the industry. The level 2 programme combines theoretical classroom learning with practical workshops and live projects to give you a well-rounded foundation. We will develop your analytical and creative skills through a variety of projects, from live briefs to group projects. This experience will give you a taster of life in the fashion industry and the challenges involved.
The level two course acts as a springboard for further study. Your teaching team will help you to identify your interests and enthusiasms as well as your strengths and weaknesses. Upon completion of the course, you will be in the ideal position to go onto a more specialist L3 course or an apprenticeship with a fashion brand.

How will I be assessed?
The University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Fashion, Business and Retail Diploma is assessed through a series of projects that are designed to broaden students skills, experience and expertise. The first 7 units are delivered with a Pass or Fail outcome. A final project (The FMP) decides the students overall grade for the year which is graded at: Pass, Merit or Distinction. Student work is externally assessed and scrutinised by External Verifiers from the University of the Arts London to ensure that academic standards are adhered maintained.

To join this programme you will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (or equivalent) including Maths and English.

Progression & Career Opportunities
Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress on to the Level 3 Fashion Retail and Communication course, a suitable apprenticeship or entry level position within a Fashion Retail business.
Working within an exciting and fast paced Fashion Retail career, as a Buyer, Merchandiser, Visual Merchandiser or Fashion promoter.

Additional Information
A portfolio of creative work must be brought to interview.
A studio fee to pay for materials is required, a bursary is available to help with costs if required. We strive to support our student learning through termly trips, these will be charged per trip, bursary is available to support where needed.
Your course will be timetabled over 3 or 4 days, with approximately 6-12 hours work of directed homework per week depending on the level of course. Our days run from 9am to 4.45pm.
Your study programme include your vocational course and also Maths, English, Digital Skills, Tutorial and Career Progression sessions, attendance to all aspects is mandatory.
