This is a two-year course for students interested in a career in graphic design, advertising & marketing. The course is equivalent to three A-levels, which will allow progression to University and the workplace. This course intends to prepare students for the creative industries, be that within a digital environment or a print-based industry but using digital methods of production.
Students will develop core graphic design skills such as typography, colour theory, composition, and layout design. Branding, publishing, photography, motion graphics, digital illustration, mobile app & web design, packaging, event design & exhibition graphics, print production and many more aspects of the graphic design industry will be taught within a simulated professional design studio setting.
Advanced research and analytical processes are explored to develop effective design strategies. Students will gain a deeper understanding of conceptual development and are encouraged to develop personal visualisation techniques. Presentations provide the opportunity for students to receive constructive peer feedback and develop critical communication methodologies.

What will I learn?
The qualification is accredited by the highly regarded University of the Arts London (UAL) and helps students to develop a creative and effective working methodology to react positively and creatively across a range of assignments and creative activities. You will develop a diverse portfolio of creative work.
The course aims to develop you to become a whole creative who can produce work in a variety of modern digital and printed mediums with the skill expected by future employers and higher education. Practical work includes simulated briefs, workshops, live client projects and course-related visits. You need to be able to work independently and you are required to carry out approximately 15 hours of homework a week.
In the second year of the extended programme, you will be able to improve upon the skills developed from year one through specialist intensive briefs with professional industry-standard outcomes. Multidisciplinary course tutors with international award-winning agency experience will coach students to reach their highest potential.

You could continue onto a Foundation Degree or BA Degree in this vocational area or related sectors. Many students go on to have a career in graphic design, branding, motion graphics, exhibition & events, and UX/UI design.
