During these uncertain times when we are experiencing ālockdownā and isolation, Balance of the Mind in Aylesbury continues to support their clients, ably assisted by students from the Buckinghamshire College Group.
Balance of the Mind is a counselling and therapy service which focuses on any problems that an individual may face. Normally the service is face-to-face, but now it is conducted over the telephone, providing a listening ear, support and guidance to assist those with anxiety, stress and negative thoughts, to help clients to restore their mind and body to peace and confidence within themselves.
Buckinghamshire College students, from the Aylesbury Campus, have been working remotely with Balance of the Mind guided by Zach and Stuart at the organisation. They are delighted to have the support and inspiration from young people to develop and expand their social media presence.
āThe support and help from the students has helped us to continue to expand our online presence, thereby making our services available to many more individuals at this unprecedented time. For many people life has become more difficult and at times lonely, but the students are helping us to reach out by using social media posts, blogs and twitter feeds. We are a charity and the students volunteer willingly; itās a win-win for all of us! Our clients are engaged, and the students learn about mental health issues and new skills, and know that their contribution will make a differenceā.
Business student Nicole Todd says; ā Working for Balance of The Mind has enabled me to create posts for twitter and Instagram that are eye catching, straight to the point, a good representation of the company and memorable for those viewing it. Using Canvas as a software to make the posts improves my design skills on how to present a business idea or opportunity, such as Zach offering new phone call sessions due to recent pandemic circumstances. I am really enjoying this opportunity and it gives me super satisfaction that I can help towards the wellbeing of othersā.
āI am so proud of our studentsā, says Jennie Weller-Poley, Industry Placement Officer in the WorkZone Team at the College. āIt is amazing that young people such as Nicole, Jonathan, Jasper and Jamie are continuing to complete their business diplomas remotely while still managing to carry out their Industry Placements during these uncertain times. Hats off to them, and Balance of the Mind for their support and guidanceā.
