Amersham Campus was alive with creativity, collaboration, and inspiration last week as we hosted our much-anticipated Creative Insights event. The day brought together T Level Media students and professionals from the some of the biggest names in the music, media, and live events industries for a full day of panel discussions, live broadcasts, and student-led podcast interviews.
We were thrilled to welcome guest speakers from Universal Pixels, Digital Orchard, D-LUX Rentals, O2 Academy Oxford, Solid State Logic, Universal Music Group, and freelancer Jay William Whittington. Each speaker brought a wealth of experience and insight from their respective fields, offering students a real-world perspective on working in these fast-paced, competitive industries.
The day kicked off in our professional TV studio, where students operated cameras, managed sound and vision mixing in the gallery, and handled the live broadcast of multiple panel discussions streamed Live directly to YouTube. These sessions gave students the opportunity to hear about the diverse career journeys of our guests, from working on major live music events and television productions, to producing for global music labels. Discussions covered key topics such as how to get stated in the industry, the importance of networking, and what a “day in the life” looks like for professionals across different roles.
A highlight of the event was the student-led podcast interviews, where T Level learners took the lead in researching, preparing, and conducting interviews with our guests. These interviews not only allowed students to develop their on-mic confidence and technical skills in the podcast studio but also helped them build valuable connections and gain personalised advice.
Throughout the day, T Level Media students were at the heart of the action, taking on all technical responsibilities for both the studio and podcast productions. This hands-on experience allowed them to apply their learning in a live environment and gain a real sense of the pressures and teamwork involved in professional media production.
Curriculum staff and event attendees praised the professionalism, enthusiasm, and adaptability of the students involved. The event served as a powerful example of the benefits of blending classroom learning with real-world experiences and industry engagement.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all our industry guests for generously sharing their time, stories, and expertise – and to our students, whose passion and commitment made the event a resounding success.
