To celebrate T Level Week and the launch of our T Level in Digital Design and Development, our Industry Placement Officer, Jennie Weller-Poley invited Ross Fear from Pure Storage to visit our Aylesbury Campus and give our T Level and IT and computing students a talk about the Industry.
Pure Storage is the markets leading force in Data Storage. Ross, who recently moved to Pure Storage is aiming to find the next large scale customers to help continue Pure’s hyper growth and market leading position. With over 25 years of experience in the technology industry, Ross has an extensive knowledge of the Industry and has previously worked with several leading technology companies including the computer technology company, Dell. Throughout the presentation, Ross described to the students what it’s really like working within the Industry and how it’s constantly changing.
After his visit, Ross said ‘It was an honour and a privilege to be invited to the Aylesbury campus of the Buckinghamshire College Group to speak to the first intake of students studying for the new T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development and Network Cabling. Having spent over 30 years in the IT industry I was able to share with them the huge growth in the industry and the transformation of all our lives as a result of the latest wave of the IT revolution. We discussed everything from how disruptive business models with technology at their heart, such as Uber and Airbnb are the new forces in business. In turn, this growth and constant change offers them a great future with the numerous highly rewarding opportunities open to them within the digital industry. And on top of all of that, the importance of being kind to anyone and everyone!’
