This May, two groups of our Year 2 Music Tech students and a Creative Media student had an exciting opportunity to showcase their talents at Wycombe Sound.
The students worked directly with station director Keith Higgins for a number of weeks prior to the broadcast learning about how to put a show together and discussing content. They decided to focus on the end of term Christmas performance.
Alex, Rory, Tyler, Regan and Oliver discussed their course and played tracks from Billie, We may have to k*** my stepdad and Barely functional. They then had a Q&A session discussing technical issues such as mic positioning and getting the sound levels mixed correctly.
Alex said of his experience, “It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of a show and to understand more about how the radio industry works.”
Keith Higgins of Wycombe Sound Commented on the Project:
“The best and ultimate compliment I can pay all of you is that you were a credit to yourselves & to the College. You sounded very professional but of even greater importance to the listeners of Wycombe Sound was that you sounded like you were enjoying yourselves and genuinely wanted to be on the radio.
If you are interested in gaining some more experience with Wycombe Sound, do contact me and I’m sure we can arrange something to meet your needs.”
We would like to thank Keith Higgins for his help in supporting the College and our Students and also Kit Rose, Industry Placement Officer for making this a possability.
