Our Carpentry Apprenticeship students had a valuable hands-on experience last week as two expert representatives from Velux Windows visited for an exclusive masterclass. This engaging session provided students with practical insights into window installation, along with real-world tips that will strengthen their skills and confidence as they progress in their carpentry careers.
The day began with an introduction to Velux’s high-quality products and standards. The visitors shared an inside look at the rigorous testing Velux windows undergo to ensure they withstand all types of weather conditions. Students were fascinated to learn that each window model is tested in a specialised wind tunnel room, where simulated storms, intense wind, and varied temperatures are used to ensure durability and resilience.
After the presentation, the masterclass shifted to a hands-on workshop, where students learned the techniques and steps involved in installing Velux Windows. The Velux Team shared expert tips and best practices throughout the installation process, empowering students with techniques they can apply not only to window assembly but also to larger projects in the future.
We are grateful to Velux for this inspiring and practical session. Experiences like this are invaluable for our students, helping them build industry-relevant skills, increase their confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of the quality standards that make a difference in the carpentry and construction industry.
