Buckinghamshire College Group has been Highly Commended in the Group of the Year Award category at the Bucks and Milton Keynes Sport Awards 2018, which took place at the Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury on November 22.
Despite the end of funding from Sport England after the ‘FE Activation project ended in 2017, the College has invested in Sport Development roles across all three campuses to build on the success of the previous results.
"We built relationships and partnerships with National Governing Bodies and relevant organisations (e.g. LEAP and AVDC) in order to ensure funding, opportunities and sustainability of appropriate sports activities and projects for students," said Taofeek Oyeyemi, Sports Development Officer for the College. "We were able to achieve our target (based on, and building on Sport England’s target in the previous year) and had a good year of sports and physical activities in the academic year and particulalrly at our Aylesbury Campus.
