Performing arts students at the Amersham campus recently welcomed West End performer Tristan Crabtree to the College. Tristan delivered a stage combat and fight workshop to Musical Theatre Level 3 Students in preparation for their next performance - Urinetown the Musical, which will be playing at Theatre on the Hill, Amersham Campus on June 13th and 14th at 7:30pm.
"As the Musical features some fairly major fight scenes it's important we give our students the training they need to help pull the sequences together," said Chris Woodhall , Musical Theatre course leader. "We have strong connections with West End performers and this has allowed our students to learn from the best in the business with Tristan, who has orchestrated many sequences for major West End productions."
Talking about the fight sequence, Tristan said; "The fight scene should be realistic, safe and students should be acting throughout the sequence. It should be a big performance so it becomes obvious what is going on."
Level 3 students were shown a series of moves and then had to put a sequence together at a walk through pace before acting it out at the correct speed. The results were so impressive that it was difficult to tell acting from real life.
