As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with Ryan who was one of our Health and Social Care Apprentices to ask him to share his experience as an Apprentice and the how the experience helped to progress in his career.
Over recent months a number of students have achieved success in their Digital Skills courses by taking Microsoft or Adobe Certification exams, in addition to the work they complete for their vocational course. Digital Skills is a core part of the study programme for students who have successfully completed English and Mathematics GCSE at Buckinghamshire College Group. The aim of the programme is to help students develop industry related digital skills, which are then formally recognised by software providers. Once completed these certifications allow for students to be recognised as either Microsoft Office Specialists or Adobe Certified Associates.
Concept Hair Magazine launched The Concept Hair Learner of the year 2021. The theme for this year was Festival Hair.
Buckinghamshire College Group was recently visited by Ofsted to understand how we were responding to the needs of our students during the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The team from Ofsted spoke to leaders, staff and students about the changes made and the impact on teaching and learning.
Earlier this month, Level 2 Catering students from the Aylesbury Campus of Buckinghamshire College Group worked with their Tutors to produce food for the homeless people of Aylesbury in partnership with St Mary`s Church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the annual homeless Christmas Day dinner hosted by St Mary’s Church is not able go ahead, so the College worked on alternatives. It was decided that food boxes containing typical Christmas Fayre would be delivered instead.
Buckinghamshire College Group and HealthTec were proud to be a part of the pilot Healthcare Assistant Programme (HCA) alongside Buckinghamshire Healthcare trust and the DWP.
Abbie May a former Hair & Media Makeup student recently got in touch to tell us about her time at our Amersham campus and what she is up to now. During her time at secondary school Abbie came to the realisation that her classes weren’t right for her, as they didn’t challenge her creatively. At first she considered studying Beauty but desired to be more creative which led her onto our Level 2 Diploma in Hair & Media Make Up & Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects and Hair and Media Make Up at Amersham.
The Department of Education has recently announced the availability of funding to support students whose learning was disrupted as a result of the COVID pandemic.
