Students studying Level 2 & 3 Diploma in Fashion, Communication and Retail were recently given a wonderful opportunity by House Of Fraser in Aylesbury. Students Tinisha, Faith and Amber joined the Visual Merchandising department in the run up to the Christmas season.
Working one day a week over a 6 week period the students were involved in preparing stock for display, dismantling Black Friday advertising and promotions, installing Christmas trees, decorations and also learning how to dress and position mannequins.
The Store Manager reported back that ‘the students have worked wonders in preparing our store ready for Christmas and we appreciate the efforts that they have put in over the last 6 weeks’
Course Leader Penny Kelley says ‘this kind of experience is invaluable to our students, it has taught them about the fast paced nature of the retail industry and also the importance of timekeeping and teamwork. I am very excited to see how what they have learnt will transfer into their work in the classroom.’
Nicola from the Workzone team who organised the event ‘we look forward to our next work based experience with the store who were prepared to give such an opportunity despite how busy they were’
