As its National Apprenticeship Week, we’ve been catching up with some of our current apprentices and finding out about their experiences of learning on the job!
Emma is currently completing a Level 3 in Digital Marketing with us at Buckinghamshire College Group.
Why did you choose an apprenticeship?
I struggled in school and it was affecting my mental health. I did not want to continue with my A-Levels due to the pressure it made me feel. I researched Apprenticeships and found that they gave me the chance to earn money on the job and gain experience in the workplace, which is valuable to employers and useful for my future when seeking full-time employment.
Why did you choose this subject?
I did not know that working in social media was a possibility, but when I found the job advertisement I was immediately interested. I love social media and taking photos, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do something that I was passionate about on a daily basis and earning money while doing so.
What do you enjoy about your time at College?
I gain an understanding of what a real-life workplace is like and how it functions. I have amazing colleagues who give me advice about not only my job, but also how I can improve and get into the industry long-term.
What are you planning to do next?
I am planning to further my career and find a full-time role in Digital Marketing.
