Students at our Amersham Campus were delighted to be joined by a number of professionals from the TV, Film Radio, Theatre and Visual Effects Industries for their âCreating the Creativesâ Event.
The event ran throughout the morning, beginning with some introductions from those in attendance. The students were then placed in break-out rooms allowing them to speak with each of the professionals on more of a one-to-one basis. We were thrilled to welcome AVID Technology, BFBS, EMG UK, Elgiva Theatre, Marlow Film Studios and Universal Pixels.
Head of Business Development and Sales, Lucy Milton said,
The main goal of âCreating the Creativesâ was to work in partnership with employers to enlighten students about career paths and options they could pursue to achieve their dream jobs in the Creative industries.
With the help from a range of employers in the sector, we were able to show the students what opportunities are out there but most importantly, âhowâ to take those initial steps to achieve that. The interactions and conversations that took place throughout the morning reinforced this.
âCreating the Creativesâ was the start of many creative partnerships for students, employers and Buckinghamshire College Group; which will help to improve the skills and knowledge of the future generation in the Creative industries.
Curriculum Manager: Creative and Digital Performance, Tim Day said,
We put this event together because itâs something that the students need. We want them to leave the College and end up in the career that they aspire to; so itâs really useful for them to learn what they should be doing from employers.
Something that was especially pleasing was that several of the guests were also ex-students. It gave the current students something to aspire to and also that first-hand experience of the diversity of potential careers available to them.
We are extremely proud to work alongside the national and local employers that attended the âCreate the Creativesâ Event and are thankful to the professionals for giving our students the opportunity to get a real insight into the creative industries.
