Health and Social Care and Education and Childcare students at our Aylesbury Campus were joined by a number of highly regarding Childcare and Healthcare organisations from Buckinghamshire to delve into future career opportunities, roles with progression, CV writing and interview techniques.
The students were joined by All about Children, Ashbourne Nurseries, Freemantle Trust, Action for Children, Westgate Healthcare and Tigerlily Recruitment.
Eleanor Richfield from All about Children said,
Today has been a wonderful opportunity to as a company be able to come in and speak to different groups of students who are studying at different levels about what future opportunities there are for them whilst their doing their courses or future opportunities for career growth for them.
Jay Jeans from Westgate Healthcare said,
We’ve talked to them about career progression, we’ve also gone through CV writing, what to look for on a CV, some of the local care homes in the area, what they offer, what we offer and progression. We’ve spoken to them about some of our own staff, recent Domestic Assistants who’s qualified to be an Activities Person. Even myself, working as a Care Assistant and progressing to a Care Manager and moving from Care Management to HR. We spent the time talking to [the students] about progression and really showing them that it’s an open book it doesn’t just start and finish with one job.
T Level in Education and Childcare student, Freya spoke about the event.
We learnt that there’s a lot of things that you can get into after you’re Level 3 and when you’ve got your qualification and If you want to go straight into a role and be a practitioner or if you want to go and do further education you can do, whilst working in a role.
We would like to thank all the organisations for coming along to our Care to Make a Difference event and for speaking with our students. Events like these are a great way to help inspire our students and make them aware of all the incredible opportunities in Childcare and Healthcare in and around Buckinghamshire.
