Students will embark on projects, competitions and community projects with the support of Forterra, with the hopes of developing skills and increasing engagement and enthusiasm.
Construction and Technology Faculty Director, Matthew Cappell said
This is a brilliant opportunity for the College, as one of only eight colleges being chosen for this in the country. Winning this opportunity means the College will have 12,000 bricks donated for our students to use and also the chance for one of our learners to win £500 worth of tools this year. Students and staff will be given merchandise, also from Forterra, which they will be able to wear to college and work.
Forterra promise to help give our students the edge through exposure to employment settings and skilled individuals with current industry knowledge and expertise. Links with industry will boost our students’ skills and enable them to get a head start in the world of work. Guest speakers and site visits will be a part of the package for the Bricklaying students which will give them real life experience of the construction industry
Along with these exciting opportunities for our students, the College will benefit with more links to national industry partners and enhance its growing reputation.
