Tara Hopkins, from the High Wycombe Buzz Networking Group, recently collaborated with the college’s Business Engagement Team to propose and organise an employer-student networking event.
With the support of Emma Wheeler, a lecturer from the Business Management course, the event was designed to bring together students from all business-related programmes.
Tara extended invitations to a wide range of her business contacts, resulting in an impressive turnout of over 20 employers. These professionals generously took time out of their busy schedules to participate in this interactive event, aimed at helping students practice their networking skills in a supportive environment.
The event provided business students with a valuable opportunity to build their confidence, learn how to engage with potential employers, and enhance their employability skills. In return, the attending employers were able to offer constructive feedback, identifying areas for improvement and recognising standout students for their performance.
One employer remarked, “it was incredibly rewarding to share my knowledge and skills with the next generation of business leaders and help shape their future careers.”
The event was a remarkable success, fostering meaningful connections and offering students a chance to refine skills that will be crucial in their professional lives.
