Our Graphic Design students recently had the exciting opportunity to showcase their talents and creativity in front of representatives from the Epilepsy Society. The session saw students pitching their innovative ideas and designs directly to Mark Poole, Digital Marketing Manager for the charity, who attended to provide industry insights and feedback on their work.
The presentations demonstrated not only a high level of creativity but also strategic thinking and a genuine passion for impactful design. Students shared a range of concepts tailored to the Epilepsy Society’s mission, aiming to raise awareness and foster understanding of epilepsy through visual communication.
In addition to building creative portfolios, the assignment helped students develop their confidence and presentation skills in a formal setting. By communicating the purpose and strategy behind their designs and handling follow-up questions, they gained valuable experience in presenting their ideas clearly and professionally. Opportunities like these enhance student learning by providing hands-on experience with live projects and feedback from industry professionals.
Mark Poole, clearly impressed with the student’s work, noted, “It was great to see the students’ work! They were very open to feedback and full of enthusiasm.” His colleague echoed his sentiments, adding “our team was really impressed by the design work of these young adults – the future is in great hands.”
This collaboration not only provided students with direct industry exposure but also invaluable networking opportunities, allowing them to build connections within the field. Experiences like this are essential in preparing students for successful careers and helping them grow into confident, skilled professionals.
