This year at Bucks College Group we are supporting the National Apprenticeship Service’s 12th annual National Apprenticeship Week. From the 4th to the 8th March, this celebration of apprenticeships will bring together the whole apprenticeship community and celebrate the impact apprenticeships have on individuals, employers and the economy.
This year’s theme for the event is ‘Blaze A Trail’, inspired by the new National Apprenticeship Campaign, ‘Fire It Up’, encouraging prospective apprentices to unleash their passion for their chosen subject area.
So why should you enrol on an apprenticeship? Well, you have the ability to earn while you learn! On average, apprentices can earn £400 or more per month for fulfilling their role. But what else can an apprenticeship offer you? Experience! There is nothing that employers value more than an experienced and enthusiastic individual. By taking on the role of an apprentice, you can not only earn money, but gain qualifications equivalent to A-Levels (at Level 3) and a Foundation Degree (at Level 4).
Additionally, you can complete your apprenticeship at your own pace. Typically, apprenticeships last between 12-18 months depending on your abilities, but with the help of your mentor / assessor, you can complete your learning at a rate that is achievable for you. Not only will you build a relationship with your assessors, while completing your apprenticeship you have the potential to meet new friends and form strong bonds with those that share similar interests to you within your workplace!
Finally, if you’re concerned about entry requirements, don’t panic! While working your apprenticeship, if necessary, you can retake your English and Maths courses alongside to build your CV and strengthen your grades. Anyone can do an apprenticeship, no matter your ability level or qualifications – your employer will give you plenty of time to gain confidence and build skills within your job!
